SEASONAL THOUGHTS

SEASONAL THOUGHTS

It has been a truly difficult and challenging year for Buccaneers Rugby Football Club. Very few matches played, reduced revenue, and isolation due to the unprecedented Covid-19 pandemic. The club has also endured considerable losses too through the deaths of some members and family connections, notably the all too early passing of such as Ray Fagan, Kevin Canavan and Bridie Meagher in 2020. We will remember them and also club members who have had serious illnesses this year. Keep them all in your thoughts and prayers. Hopefully, the New Year will bring better times and, meanwhile, we wish all our members and their families peace and happiness at this extraordinary Christmas time and good health and joy in 2021.

Finally we thank everyone who has contributed to Buccaneers RFC during this unprecedented year, be it by coaching young players, managing a team, officiating or administrating in some capacity, or through sponsorship. Thanks too to the media for their coverage of matters Buccaneers throughout 2020.

‘YOUR CLUB, YOUR COUNTRY’

Buccaneers RFC had no winner in the recent IRFU ‘Your Club, Your Country’ Grand Draw. However, as a gesture of appreciation by the club to those who generously supported this fund-raiser, Buccs held an internal draw this week for one prize of €200 and three prizes of €100 each. The lucky winners are:- Aidan Clarke won €200 with Lucy Boland, Jim Keane and Sean Naughton winning €100 each.
