GO PURPLE DAY

‘GO PURPLE DAY’ is being held on Friday, April 29th. This day was started a number of years ago by Garda Stacey Looby of Athlone Garda station and what started out as a local event is now a national one. The aim of this day is to show all men and women victims of domestic violence the supports available to them in times of need.

On April 29th people are being asked to wear or bake or sow something purple, just in general be creative with the colour purple while creating an awareness and sharing the help lines of local domestic violence services.

Gardai Stacey Looby and John Hickey along with Sergeant Paul Kelly were delighted to be welcomed to Buccaneers Rugby Football Club where they were gratefully assisted by the club and Connacht captain and Ireland international Jack Carty in promoting the 2022 ‘GO PURPLE DAY’. Garda Stacey Looby says “since these photos have gone on social media they have helped create a massive awareness for this year’s ‘GO PURPLE DAY’ and I sincerely thank Buccaneers club and Jack Carty for that”.
