BUCCS HOME TO OLD BELVEDERE
Its second v third when Buccaneers take on Old Belvedere in the fourth round of the Energia All-Ireland League Division 1B at Dubarry Park on this bank holiday Saturday, kick off 2.30 p.m.
Both clubs have made promising starts to their campaigns, winning two out of three to date while their defeats have been narrow ones away to Ulster opposition. Buccs went down 22-20 in their opening fixture at Armagh while Old Belvo lost 14-13 against Banbridge. The Pirates two victories have been a little bit more clearcut, their better scoring difference edging them into second place.
The Dubliners had to work harder for their wins, beating Naas 25-22 last time out while coming out on top in a high-scoring south city derby by 32-28 over St. Mary’s College. The Athlone side, for whom Michael Hanley is their major injury concern, will be eager to make home advantage pay. However, they expect to have Danny Qualter back in contention to start following his vacation from which rumours of an engagement are circulating!
