BUCCANEERS 15 GALWEGIANS 7

BUCCANEERS U-15’s played Galwegians in the Connacht League at Dubarry Park on Sunday. Buccs were well worth their 15-7 win as they dominated possession and territory but gave away a succession of penalties to keep Wegians in the game. For all their good play Buccs could only muster a 3 pointer in the first half.

Half time brought the required reset and the second half soon brought a try from Hugo Hannon, who had saved the team with a last gasp tap tackle in the first stanza, converted by Andy Cotton. As the Buccs forwards and backs worked their way towards the opposition try line, a Wegians centre took a gamble and intercepted to run 80 meters for a 7 pointer. However this Buccs team are a resilient bunch and squeezed the life out of the away team, eventually scoring through the returning Nathan Kelly.

Cotton s kicking was outstanding for Buccs and James Kelly had a good game in the loose. The two centres Darragh Glennon and Oisin O’Donoghue were really good and Phillip Finnan showed glimpses of his old self. Great to see former Buccs players Tim Allnutt and David Walshe at the match.
