BUCCS FACE NEW CHAMPIONS IN FINAL AIL FIXTURE

BUCCS FACE CHAMPIONS IN FINAL AIL FIXTURE

BUCCANEERS take on new Division 1B champions City of Armagh in their final Energia All-Ireland League fixture of the season at Dubarry Park on Saturday, kick-off 2.30 p.m. The Ulster side have been among the pacesetters all season and secured promotion for the first time to the top-flight when defeating UCC last time out. The northerners (a Junior club just 12 years ago) have lost just 4 matches to date and will be keen to finish on a winning note.

Buccaneers, meanwhile, lie in the final play-off berth and they must at least match Old Wesley’s result on Saturday with the Dublin club (just two points adrift of the Pirates) facing a tricky assignment away to Naas. Player unavailability for various reasons has proven costly for Buccs since their win away to UCC. Their form and results have suffered as a consequence. But they will have been boosted by the Senior Cup success and, in particular, the manner in which it was achieved through hard work, discipline and attitude. If the Athlone side play to their strengths, they can upset the champions in this Hodson Bay Group sponsored match.

‘PROSECCO BY THE PITCH’ LADIES DAY

There will be a pre-match function for this game with the Ladies themed ‘Prosecco by the Pitch’ function in The Bounty starting at 12.30 p.m. This has proved hugely successful since its inception just a few years ago and is likely to attract a full attendance. Four course menu with complimentary wine will be laid on. Admission to the match is free for those attending, that’s if the girls venture out, and the event will be rounded off with a DJ getting the ladies moving on the dancefloor. Brave men are welcome to attend also! Contact Geraldine at 0861732711 to book.
