THIRDS PLAY GALWEGIANS IN ARD-NA-CREGG CUP FINAL
BUCCANEERS THIRDS square up to their Galwegians counterparts in a high noon showdown to decide the Ard-Na-Cregg Cup winners. The final which takes place at Corinthian Park, Galway, on Saturday, with the 12-noon kick-off means it will be very difficult for Pirates supporters to take in both this much anticipated duel and also the AIL game v City of Armagh.
Buccs and Wegians are the two best teams at this level. Both have progressed on merit through high-scoring victories so a feast of tries is possible. There is a wonderful spirit in this Pirates crew with a great mix of exuberant youth and wily veterans. Rolling substitutions are, of course, crucial and is an area where Buccaneers have been smart. Alex Hayman, Garreth Halligan and David Fagan have been rolling back the years (the latter not so many years!) and setting the standards along with Anthony Hughes (who celebrated his 40th last weekend). Their leadership is key to younger players performing on the day.
It should be a cracking and entertaining joust and it is never easy against the light blues but Buccs could have that little edge to come home with the trophy.
