WINNING START FOR U-15’s
Buccaneers played their first game of the season on Saturday against a Galwegians/Galway Bay combination at a sweltering Dubarry Park.
A new look Buccs outfit played without fear and came away with a 70-7 win against the westerners. Playing outstanding free flowing off-loading rugby Buccs went ahead with a try from scrum half Scott Lowe as he looped around the winger to score in the corner. The opposition were resilient but were well marshalled by a good home defence and a 17-0 half-time lead gave the Athlone boys a good platform for the second half.
But the Galway side scored early after the change of ends and this woke the Buccs boys up to score some great team tries with Sean O’Hara scoring the last with a super run. Myles Fallon and Elliot Friel had two tries each. Tom Herron, John Finnan, Eoin Carr and Cillian Donohue were other try scorers. Carr landed five conversions.
