Buccaneers U-15s travelled to Mullingar on Sunday in preparation for their upcoming Cup campaign. Training has ramped up since Christmas with circuit training added to a pitch session every week. The Mullingar A team are going well at the top of their league and they provided a stern challenge to this improving Buccs squad.

And so it proved with the home team scoring first. But two John Finnan scores left the score 14-12 to Buccs. Adam Murphy scored next and then Mullingar got a simple try to level the log at 19 all. Further tries from Sean O’Hara, Ronan Tynan and Elliot Friel gave victory to the Athlone boys by double scores 38-19. This was a tough game for the squad and Buccs showed great passion and resilience in defence which augers well for the Cup.
