BUCCS HOME TO CHAMPIONS AS LAYDEN, STAUNTON & QUALTER BOW OUT

BUCCS HOME TO CHAMPIONS ST. MARY’S

BUCCANEERS host champions St. Mary’s College in their final Energia All-Ireland League fixture on Saturday. The Dublin side arrive miles ahead of their challengers on the league table, having lost just one game this season. That was a single point derby defeat away to Blackrock College. They currently have 80 points and are, allegedly, endeavouring to secure the highest points total in a season. So another tough day looks in the offing for the midlanders who will be hoping to have some of their walking wounded back for this Hodson Bay Group sponsored fixture which kicks off at 2.30 p.m.

Pride may be all that the homesters have to play for at this stage and, hopefully, that will stimulate them to put it up to the fancied visitors in what will be the final outings by Shane Layden and Martin Staunton while injury means Danny Qualter is also retiring. This trio of long-time stalwarts gave excellent and committed service to Buccs over many seasons and the club gratefully acknowledges their dedication and contribution. Hopefully they will remain involved with the club as they have vast skills and experience that they could pass on to the next generation of Pirates.

There will be a pre-match function for this match and groups or individuals can be catered for. Kindly contact our Administrator Geraldine at 0861732711 to book.
