UL Bohemian travelled to Athlone on Sunday and gave Buccaneers U-16s outfit a good test before their upcoming Connacht Cup final. Buccs were soon into their stride with an early score but Bohs replied from the restart with a converted try of their own. Buccs playing some decent rugby scored two more tries before the break to leave the half time score at 21-7 in their favour. It was ding-dong after half-time with both teams scoring freely and finished up at Buccs 47 Ul Bohs 33. John Paul and Andrew Cotton were on fire with Alex Connors and Jacob Bourke not far behind.

Buccaneers U-13s defeated Loughrea 24-5 in their Connacht Cup quarter-final replay and are scheduled to play the semi-final next weekend; details not to hand at time of writing. Buccs U-14s shipped a 35-7 defeat at home to Claremorris in the Bowl semi-final while our U-15s also lost at home when going down 35-19 to Creggs in the Plate semi-final.

Meanwhile, our U-18.5 squad have home advantage against Ballina in their Connacht Cup semi-final at Dubarry Park on Thursday with an 8.15 p.m. kick-off. Finally, Buccs U-17s have a noon showdown away to Corinthians in the Cup semi-final on Sunday; this game has all the hallmarks of being a cracker.
