MICHAEL MOORE CAR SALES
EXTEND SPONSORSHIP OF BUCCANEERS

MICHAEL MOORE CAR SALES announced their continuing long established title sponsorship of Buccaneers Rugby Football Club at a function in The Bounty. Confirming their patronage CEO Michael Moore Junior stated that “it’s hard to believe that this is their 14th season as official sponsors with the relationship having grown into a strong partnership over the years”. That equates to almost half the lifespan of Buccaneers who are celebrating their 30th birthday when the All-Ireland League commences on Saturday next!

In that period, Buccaneers “have produced many great and talented players including British & Irish Lions star Robbie Henshaw and Ireland international Jack Carty.” Ireland’s rugby stock has raised to new heights and “rugby nations from around the world are looking towards Ireland for best practices”.

Mr. Moore continued that “this really shows the leadership, commitment and hard work put in” which is evident at Buccaneers where “kids’ participation from all ages is vital to the continuation of the club’s success.” He hoped that “this continues to remain as one of the core principles” of Buccaneers which “takes a lot of hard work, dedication and focus to manage. This must be constant with continual improvements in achieving goals and ambitions, just like in life.”

Mr. Moore congratulated club president Lorna Stuart Trainor and senior vice-president Eoin Reid, Mens coaches Paul Byrne, Benny Gilligan and David Henshaw, club captain Frank Hopkins, and also Womens coach Sean Flynn and manager Amy O’Connor. He noted Lorna was a trailblazer, being Buccs first female president and he wished her all the best for the season ahead and also on her upcoming nuptials. He concluded by wishing all Buccaneers teams great success in the upcoming season.

Welcoming the gathering to the launch, Buccaneers president Lorna Stuart Trainor looked forward “to a wonderful season. We’ve got a year ahead full of challenges, triumphs and above all teamwork, which is the heart of everything” in a club that “was founded on passion, unity and resilience”, legacies she believed will continue.

Lorna gratefully acknowledged the “unwavering support of Michael Moore Car Sales that ensures we can keep moving forward, both on and off the pitch. Like any great team, it is the partnerships we build that help drive us to succeed”. This is a landmark year for Buccaneers with the merrymaking commencing as we kick off the season on September 21st and she hoped that the celebrations will continue throughout the whole season, both on and off the pitch!

Head coach Paul Byrne thanked the club for backing the coaching group to continue and he felt “very privileged to be working alongside two brilliant club men in Benny Gilligan and Davey Henshaw” as well as the wider coaching team. They have “a young, hungry and determined group of players whose work ethic has been phenomenal since pre-season commenced in July”. Club captain Frankie Hopkins is “a leader who drives standards” and Paul looks forward “to rebuilding in what will be a challenging but exciting season”.

He thanked the club’s executive committee “for their on-going support and commitment”, noting that the coaching team “are well aware that the club as a whole is behind us”. Here he acknowledged all the club’s volunteers and supporters and highlighted the importance of our Minis and Youths teams, “the lifeblood of the club”. In conclusion, Paul thanked the club’s sponsors especially the generous long-term patronage by Michael Moore Car Sales “without which the club simply could not function”.

Club Captain Frank Hopkins is “honoured and privileged to again captain Buccaneers” and he is “hugely excited about the upcoming season”. The players have been training assiduously and “an incredible amount of work has gone in already”. He thanked the club’s committee especially Director of Rugby Damien Shine and he wished success to all Buccaneers teams. “The young boys and girls teams are the heartbeat and future of the club” and it was good to see a resurgent Womens team being fielded. Frankie finished by thanking all sponsors particularly Michael Moore Car Sales whose support helps Buccaneers compete at national level.
