BUCCANEERS 24 BALLINA 19
Buccaneers entertained Ballina in the Connacht U-16 league on Sunday on the main Dubarry Park pitch that was immaculate on a fine autumnal afternoon.
Scoring first after a good start Buccs were 12-5 up at half time with tries by Adam Murphy and John Finnan. Buccs started the second half with another Finnan score but he was soon sin-binned and this let Ballina in for 2 tries to tie the scores at 19 apiece. However, a late rally by the home side finished with Sean O’Hara scoring in the corner after a sweeping movement to secure a 24-19 home win.
Buccs played some great rugby at times but spoilt a lot of possession with needless knock-ons and heedless penalties. Carlos Movill, Ryan Hughes and Finnan were best of the backs with captain Myles Fallon, O’Hara and Brian Roarke best of the forwards.
