U-20s MATCH TOP ATTRACTION OF HECTIC WEEKEND OF FIXTURES

FIRSTS HOME TO BANBRIDGE

BUCCANEERS FIRSTS have their third successive home fixture in as many weeks when they entertain Banbridge in the Energia All-Ireland League at Dubarry Park on Saturday. The northerners sit comfortably in mid-table following a 30-25 Ulster derby win over Ballymena. Another tough test awaits the Shannonsiders when this Division 2A encounter commences at 2.30 p.m.

U-20’s FACE BLACKROCK IN CRUNCH TIE

BUCCANEERS U-20’s face a crunch test when they take on Blackrock College in the J.P.Fanagan Leinster League Premier 2 Super Six group match at Dubarry Park on Sunday afternoon. Rock arrive on a high having walloped UCD 48-0 last weekend, a win that saw them take over leadership of Premier 2 as Buccs fixture away to Dublin University was postponed due to Trinity’s pitch being waterlogged.
The metropolitans won when the teams met at Stradbrook pre-Christmas but the Pirates left chances behind them on that occasion. Buccs must take every opportunity on Sunday if they are to come out on top. They have a well-balanced side who may not be the biggest but there is no doubting their energy and effort. They have a cohort of quality performers in their ranks and, with the Ray McLoughlin Cup also up for grabs, a highly competitive and entertaining battle looks likely when the action kicks off at 3 p.m. This match deserves a big turnout of home support cheering on these young Buccs!

SECONDS AWAY TO DUNMORE

BUCCANEERS SECONDS face another team that was disappointed not to qualify for the higher section when they travel to Dunmore for a Bank of Ireland Connacht Junior 1A League Super Four pool game on Sunday. The Co. Galway outfit pipped University of Galway 9-5 at home last weekend and they may have an eye or two on their upcoming Junior Cup final duel with Creggs. This league tie has a 2.30 p.m. start at Abbeylands South, Dunmore.

Meanwhile there is a plethora of underage matches home and away over the weekend including no less than six fixtures (plus Minis coaching) pencilled in for Dubarry Park on Sunday. Add in a Car Wash and it will be hectic there!
