BUCCS KICK OFF SEASON ON THURSDAY
BUCCANEERS kick off their season with a fixture against Galway Corinthians at Dubarry Park with the Senior side taking on the westerners in the Bank of Ireland Connacht Senior League in a game that has been brought forward to Thursday night. Kick-off is at 8 p.m. and admission is FREE.
Buccs have a new coaching team led by Darin Claasen in place and it will be interesting to see how his charges perform. He has a young squad but believes there is serious potential there. He will be focusing on standards, working on the details and creating an environment where the players drive the culture. As the club does not have an endless stream of players coming through, retaining and developing our young players will be key to Buccs performances and results. Hard work, discipline and unity will be vital ingredients.
Numbers have been increasing at training so it will be interesting to see how the players perform. Garreth Halligan is assistant coach with Conor Kenny overseeing the scrum. Tommy Conlon manages the squad with assistance from Karl Turley. All are good club people and we wish them and the players all the best for their respective campaigns.
Meanwhile, the Seconds Senior Cup game also v Corinthians has been postponed.
