Buccaneers and Sligo Seconds put in some energetic endeavour in their Bank of Ireland Senior Seconds Cup game also played at Hamilton Park on Saturday where the visitors were fully deserving of their 10-0 victory.

There was no breeze of note to contend with for this game and the midlanders dominated much of the proceedings. Their half-time lead of 3-0 courtesy of an Ethan Friel penalty did not reflect their superiority before the break.

They continued to take the game to the homesters following the change of ends and a Harry Balsiger break gained territory where Buccs earned a scrum from which Anthony Markov broke. He linked with Richard Greene and the Buccs fullback surged in for a try which Friel converted.

This game provided a useful exercise to give game time for many players with Markov, Balsiger, Cameron Brill and Cian Daly catching the eye.
