Buccaneers U-15s ‘black’ team were at home to a good Birr XV in a friendly on Saturday. Buccs showed more cohesion and purpose than of late and this showed in a 41-7 win. Buccs were well ahead at half-time and dealt with a Birr second half rally to finish strongly. Congratulations to all 21 who played. Try scorers were Owen Kelly (2), Fergal Kelly, Jordan Murray, Donnacha O’Sullivan, Rob Connor and Jack Monaghan with Corey Kelly adding 3 conversions.

BUCCANEERS:- Luke Clancy, Jack Monaghan, Owen Kelly, Tomi Afinkaye, Conor Burke, Oscar Killeen, Tadgh Rohan, Rob Connor, Fergal Kelly, Niall Donoghue, Saran Griffiths, Jordan Murray, Oisin Daly, Donnacha O’Sullivan, Aaron Costello, Corey Kelly, Jack Costello, Jason Heneghan, Dylan Moran, Leroy Boakye and Ryan Farrell.

Buccaneers U-13s played their first game of the season and indeed their first ever 15-a-side match on Sunday at home. Although well beaten by a strong Loughrea team Buccs showed enough ability to give hope for the future.
A solid scrum and lineout supremacy gave Buccs plenty of ball but the home team’s defence was porous although they looked dangerous any time they got the ball. A greater effort at training should ensure a better performance next week v Ballinasloe. Outstanding for Buccs was Senan Rafferty followed by Tadgh O’Faolan, James Dowling and Ollie Weldon.

BUCCANEERS:- E Dullea, O Donoghue, D Carroll, T O’Faolan, L Connaughton, S Conlon, S Gaffey, R Power, F Quinn, S Rafferty, T Gunning, O Weldon, J Dowling, J Dineen and R Keegan.
