HENSHAW AND BOYLE STAR
Buccaneers duo ROBBIE HENSHAW and PAUL BOYLE played starring roles for country and province respectively last weekend. Ireland finally hit a bit of positive form when clinching third place in the Autumn Nations Cup with a comfortable 31-16 victory over Scotland at the Aviva Stadium on Saturday. On his return to centre after injury Henshaw put in a tremendous performance that put him in contention for the man of the match accolade. His smart read of Johnny Sexton’s diagonal kick saw him set up a try for Keith Earls as the Athlonian played a key role in Ireland’s improved display. DAVID HEFFERNAN and FINLAY BEALHAM also enjoyed game time during this new tournament while physio KEITH FOX is a vital component of Ireland’s backroom team.
Meanwhile, the previous evening at Galway Sportsground, former Ireland U-20 skipper Boyle captained Corinthians for the first time as the westerners despatched Benetton 31-14 in the PRO14. The young backrower had a night to remember as his hattrick of tries steered Connacht to a bonus point victory in Conference B.
