What an amazing weekend for Buccaneers U-10 and U-12 Girls teams who had a bus trip to Dublin to cheer on Ireland v Wales at the RDS on Saturday and, even if Wales were too strong in the end for a very exciting new look Irish team, the experience was truly memorable for the 50 who travelled. Arriving early to enjoy the RDS pre match entertainment and celebrity spotting – – which included An Uactaráin Michael D Higgins, Ryan Tubridy and Donnacha O’Callaghan no less! The noise levels and excitement were beyond fever pitch during the very exciting match but Wales were too powerful in last 10 minutes.
But this was not to end in disappointment. On the contrary — the Irish team which has four excellent midland representatives gathered themselves and management and Irish players met the fans in person. There were lots of selfies, autographs and two of our players received the match jerseys from star players Eimear Considine and Aimee-Leigh Murphy-Crowe! What role models and characters these athletes are even in defeat.
Following this up on Sunday morning it was on to the Aviva Blitz at Kildara RFC where stiff challenges from Newbridge Wasps, Portarlington, Kildara RFC and Richmond Limerick were all repelled by Buccaneers with great team performances from each of the 17 players who gave their all in very warm conditions! Again, great fun was had in the Kildare sunshine.
