Buccaneers Womens team were defeated 36-7 by Ballinasloe in the opening round of the Connacht Womens League at Moher Road on Sunday. The Galway girls, backboned by their recent successful underage players, had too much nous for Buccs but nevertheless it was an enjoyable match and worthwhile experience for the Athlone ladies. Scrumhalf Niamh O’Dwyer scored Buccs try which was converted by hooker Judy Dowling.
