BALLINA 5 BUCCANEERS 48
BUCCANEERS made a winning start to the Connacht U-14 League Division One when overcoming Ballina 48-5 at Heffernan Park on Sunday. The windy conditions did not prevent the Athlone lads from producing a wonderful team display on the 4G surface.
Buccs held a 24-0 lead at halftime with tries from Joe Hurley, Robert Connor, Daniel Murphy and Ferghal Kelly. The young Pirates maintained their momentum in the second half adding a further four tries, all scored by player of the match Aaron Costello. Corey Kelly on kicking duties landed four conversions while a sporting Ballina responded with a second half try.
