FULL ENTRY FOR GOLF CLASSIC

On a tidy round score of 100 points, the team of Michael Carty, Kevin Clabby, Barry Donnelly and John Stack were the top quartet in Buccaneers RFC’s annual Golf Classic played at Glasson Lakehouse course on Wednesday last.

Lex Stronge, Eamonn Barrett, Ray Groarke and Michael Piggot finished as runners-up on 97 points, just a single point ahead of the third-placed youthful combination of Rory Grenham, Ross Murphy-Sweeney, Cian Daly and Mike Donoghue.

Mary McCullagh won the Ladies Longest Drive with Brid Keane taking the honours for the Ladies Nearest the Pin. In the Mens section, Kieran O’Sullivan had the Longest Drive while noted tenor Sean Og Hurley captured the Nearest the Pin honour.

The Golf Classic continues to be a highly popular and successful event for Buccaneers with a full entry list and big tee sponsorship numbers. Thanks to our organisers especially Eamonn Fagan and Geraldine Kenny. Sincere thanks also to Glasson Lakehouse for the fine food and service and, of course, for having the course in pristine condition on a day when the weather was near perfect.

The winners will be presented with their prizes at Buccaneers first home AIL game v Galwegians on September 27th.
