CASTLEBAR 21 BUCCANEERS 5
CASTLEBAR hit the ground running in their Bank of Ireland Connacht Junior 1A League fixture against Buccaneers with two early tries proving pivotal for the Mayo side’s 21-5 victory in this Saturday night match.
Buccs had the assistance of the elements in the opening half but made too little use of them until late in the half. They finally got some momentum going in that period and Atrio Abono scored their try. But the homesters added a trio of penalties to be deserving victors in an attritional battle. The Pirates fell off too many tackles and indiscipline crept in. Aindriu Oates, especially in the set-pieces, was pick of the pack while Ross Murphy-Sweeney was best of the backs.
