BUCCANEERS 16 CORINTHIANS 11

BUCCANEERS U-20’s had a hard-earned J.P.Fanagan Qualifier victory over Corinthians at Dubarry Park on Sunday but the 16-11 winning margin was not sufficient to earn them Division 2 status with the visitors losing bonus point securing that slot.
In a hard-fought game, Orrin Burgess scored first with a try and Michael Byrne landed a penalty. Corinthians fought back with a Declan O’Loughlin try and a James Gorham penalty leaving the half time score 8-8. Gavin Daly scored a forwards try with Ruaidhri Fallon adding a penalty. Sean Comer-O’Brien scored a penalty at the death for Corinthians.

Jim Connolly was an excellent replacement prop who kept up the good work of Kieran Egan. Rory Kilgaraiff impressed when he replaced the hard working Fionn McDonnell in the second row. Seniors hero of the previous day Fallon was a second half replacement for the injured Burgess .

Buccs U-20’s have NUIG home in Dubarry Park next Sunday as they continue to build momentum and hopefully continue their winning form. Kick off 3 p.m.
