BUCCS HOME TO NAVAN
BUCCANEERS entertain Navan in the Energia All-Ireland League at Dubarry Park on Saturday when kick-off for this round five fixture is 2.30 p.m. Both clubs were relegated last season and did not enjoy the best of starts to life in Division 2B.
The Royal County side completed a double over Buccs last season but the Pirates will be buoyed by their fine win at Enniscorthy where Navan suffered a heavy defeat earlier this month. With confidence returning, the noticeably improving Buccs will be keen to build on their long overdue return to winning ways. Their squad, albeit very young, is skillful and very willing. If they guard against complacency and continue to work hard, they have the tools to record back-to-back victories. They did not incur any injuries of note last weekend so are likely to field an unchanged starting XV. Let’s see a big crowd in Athlone getting behind the Pirates; you can be a vital assistance. 20% of gate money goes to local charities with ATHLONE FAMILY RESOURCE being the beneficiary from this match; another good reason to come along and support!
OTHER FIXTURES
BUCCANEERS U-20s travel to Dublin on Sunday where they face Seapoint in the J.P.Fanagan Leinster Premier 2 League at Kilboggett Park, Killiney. Kick-off for this Section A match is 2.30 p.m. A focussed and organised Buccs look capable of maintaining their winning start to this league.
BUCCANEERS JUNIORS square up to Creggs in the Bank of Ireland Connacht Junior 1A League under the Dubarry Park floodlights on Saturday. The border county club, under the tutelage of Kolo Kiripati, recorded a Cup and League double last season and will be favourites for this duel. But if Buccs build on their display away to Connemara last time out, then this can be a compelling contest.
BUCCANEERS WOMENS team host Sligo in the Connacht Womens Senior League on Sunday afternoon. This basement battle gets under way at 1 p.m.
