Buccaneers U-14’s travelled to Corinthians on a beautiful Sunday afternoon and came away with a super win. First on the scoreboard Buccs learnt the lesson of previous weeks with some dogged defending with outside centre Oisin O’Donoghue shoring up the supreme tackling of Ciaran West, Reuben Colleran and Ryan Nagle with full back Philip Finan sweeping up the leftovers.
Evin Claffey was strong throughout and debutant Cathal Brazil enjoyed his first outing. But it was left wing Sam Byrne who set the game alive with a hat trick of tries along with a Finan touchdown plus three Noah Stewart conversions that gave the Athlone boys a 26 point margin before the home side scored two late tries.
