FINALS! FINALS! FINALS! FINALS!
BUCCANEERS have FOUR Connacht Cup finals this weekend so there should be hordes of Pirates descending on Galway Sportsground on Sunday afternoon with the U-16 replay between Buccs and Corinthians getting proceedings under way at 11.30 a.m. Last Sunday’s drawn decider was a cracker so make sure you come along early for a repeat between these two smashing squads. The U-13 Cup final follows at 12.30 when Buccs square up to Corinthians Black team. Buccs defeated Corinthians Blues enroute to this final while their opponents had a longer route so may be a little bit more battle hardened.
The U-15 final is next at 2 p.m. and pits Buccs against Sligo, who overcame Corinthians on their passage to this decider. However, Buccs took a notable scalp when winning away to Ballina in their semi-final, a feat not easily achieved. This promises to be a very lively affair. Buccaneers and Sligo are also in opposition in the U-17 final which kicks off at 4 p.m. Buccs have impressed on their march to this decider, defeating Galwegians and Corinthians on the way, while Sligo have also totted up lots of scores as they advanced. It should be a game worthy of rounding off a hectic day at the Sportsground.
PLATE FINAL REPLAY
Completing your bank holiday weekend rugby and also the final game of a long, long season is the Connacht U-18.5 Plate final replay between Buccaneers and Creggs on Monday. These teams could not be separated last weekend at Dubarry Park where they drew 15-15. So round down the season at The Green in Cregss with the final kick-off commencing at 3 p.m.
Needless to add but all these young Buccaneers players of the future will greatly appreciate as much support as possible in Galway.
