GIANT JERSEY VISITS BUCCS
There was great excitement at Buccaneers RFC on Sunday afternoon when the giant replica Ireland Women’s Jersey arrived at the club. The jersey was truly GIANT! Hordes of supporters especially youngsters got down on their hands and knees to sign good luck messages for the Ireland squad ahead of the Women’s Rugby World Cup which commences next week in England.
The highlight of the day was the attendance of Anna McGann and Ivana Kiripati. Both young ladies commenced their rugby journeys at Buccaneers and both featured in the previous day’s match against World No.2 ranked Canada. McGann scored two excellent tries while Kiripati gained further vital experience in this game.
A lot of hard work and preparation went into this event and the club is particularly grateful for the endeavours in this regard by our Women’s Senior team manager Amy O’Connor on a task well done.
Ireland kick-off their campaign with a 12-noon showdown against Japan on Sunday, August 24th. Matches against Spain on August 31st and New Zealand on September 7th complete their pool fixtures.
