BUCCANEERS J2’s put up a spirited display when going down 40-5 to Portumna’s First XV in their Connacht Junior 2 League game played at Portumna on Sunday. Underfoot conditions were mucky and it took Buccs some time to get to the tempo of the exchanges, their continuity improving as the game progressed. Andrew Flood scored the Pirates pushover try.
Portumna were a better organised outfit and Buccs finished with just 12 players due to injuries and not having the luxury of substitutes. Nevertheless, they continued to battle commendably and never gave up through the whole game.
