SECONDS HOME TO BALLINROBE IN CUP SEMI-FINAL

BUCCANEERS SECONDS will also face a stiff test on Sunday when they square up to Ballinrobe in the semi-final of the Connacht Junior Cup. This highly anticipated joust gets under way at 2.30 p.m. in Dubarry Park where home advantage can be key. Ballinrobe arrive with a 100% league and cup win record so far this season. They were the top side in the Junior 1C league by some distance ahead of second placed Dunmore whom Buccs defeated in a previous round. So this will be a tougher challenge for what is a youthful and developing Pirates outfit. But Buccs have been improving game by game, crowned by their hard-earned and fully deserved win away to Creggs last time out.

Rory Grenham, Sean O’Connell, Fergus Galvin and Ryan O’Meara will add ‘juice’ in the Buccs pack. Graham Lynch and skipper Colin Daly are smart operators in the backs unit where Harry Balsiger, Harry Hughes and Ross Murphy-Sweeney have pace to burn. Sam Krupa, Cian Daly, Jensen Nagle and Cedric Fokam are other young players who have been rising to the challenges this season. Cathal O’Grady, Jack Scouler, Robert Teape and Andrew Evans are other youngsters who will be striving for inclusion with Trevor Thompson and Sean O’Flynn adding guile and experience to the squad. This should be an absorbing duel so let’s see a big turnout at Dubarry Park for this game!
