PLATE FINAL POSTPONED TONIGHT!!!

PLATE FINAL POSTPONED

The Cawley Cup Plate final between Buccaneers Seconds and NUIG, scheduled for Dubarry Park tonight, has been postponed. The late notice is probably due to College exams. Apologies for short notice.

BUCCANEERS J1’s square up to NUI Galway in the Cawley Cup Plate decider under the Dubarry Park floodlights on Friday night. This final gets under way at 7.30 p.m. NUIG edged a narrow 11-8 victory over Buccs when the sides met in their Pool game played at Dangan but that was in early September when the Shannonsiders were not as well organised as they are at this stage. The Pirates have improved immensely in the interim and they now have some strength in depth at this level. Led by Brian McDonnell the pack includes able operators in Fergus Galvin, Sean O’Connell and Sam Kroupa. Graham Lynch is a dynamic link at scrumhalf, Harry Hughes and Eoin O’Carroll are enterprising backs and Andrew Evans is a consistent placekicker. The Students can be counted on to be lively and competitive but Buccs look to have a nicely balanced squad, with some experience that can be launched from the bench, that should help them take the spoils.
