Buccaneers U-15 yellow team prepared for their Cup game next week with a match against Moate on Sunday. Buccs started off really well with constant pressure on the home line but after 15 minutes of attack Buccs had still not scored and the home team broke away to score in the corner. Again Buccs went down and put the heat on the home team with Stephen Joyce plunging over. Buccs unwillingness to pass played into the hands of the defence despite excellent approach work.
This ding dong contest continued in the second half and Buccs were guilty of lots of missed tackles. But their resilience was evident and further tries by Fionn ‘spuds’ Lyons and Brian Mulvihill led to an exciting finish when play went from end to end. Brian Moore brought the proceedings to a conclusion with both sides happy after an entertaining game.
Fionn Lyons had a great game against his old side and he was ably supported by G Murphy and S Joyce in the forwards and D Connolly, B Mulvihill and newcomer O Tiernan in the backs. A very encouraging performance by this improving group which augurs well for the cup campaign.
