Connacht U-18 Girls Cup Quarter Final
Buccaneers and Ballinasloe served up a highly competitive match in very poor conditions at Moher Road. Match was abandoned at 56 minutes due to a serious injury sustained by a Buccaneers’ player.
The first half saw Buccaneers pin Ballinasloe in their 22 for the first 20 minutes with a series of dominant phases between forwards and backs. This terrific work was ultimately frustrated with a try against the run of play through a well worked counterattack by a strong Ballinasloe team. As the weather closed in, conditions deteriorated and Ballinasloe turned another phase of pressure into a converted try before half time.
The second half started with a quick converted try from Ballinasloe. This proved to be a catalyst for Buccaneers who responded with a fine try worked off the back of a scrum. With the contest heating up, Buccaneers seemed to be gaining momentum before injury brought proceedings to an early end. The match is intended to be re-fixed.
