U-20’s AWAY TO NAAS IN KEY FIXTURE

U-20’s AWAY TO NAAS

There are no easy games for Buccaneers teams this weekend and our U-20’s also look like having a real battle on their hands when they travel to Forenaughts on Sunday where they square up to Naas in what is effectively the J.P.Fanagan Leinster League Premier 3 decider. Although they scored four tries, Naas lost away to NUIG by a single point 38-37 last Sunday but they will benefit from having had that contest. Buccs, meanwhile, were due to host Lansdowne but the metropolitans conceded a walkover. The Pirates would have much preferred to have had a match as there is no better preparation.

Buccs came back from a 0-19 half-time deficit to overcome Naas 21-19 when the sides met earlier in the season in Athlone. But they cannot afford to again be as slipshod as they were in the first half despite the more encouraging effort and endeavour following the change of ends that day. Ruadhri Fallon, Tom Shine, Ben Daly and Michael Byrne are exciting backs while Kieran Egan, Lasha Laoshvilli, Fionn McDonnell and Cian McCann are able operators in the pack. Injury rules Adam Flanagan out. Focus, discipline and committed application will be key ingredients from start to finish here for these young Pirates.
