U-20s FRIENDLY
Under a new coaching ticket for the 2026/27 season in Eoin O’Reilly and Eoghan Maher (both former Buccs players) Buccaneers U-20s could not have asked for a stiffer challenge to the season opener with this friendly against an excellent Corinthians side at Dubarry Park on Sunday.
The home side were slow to start, having only recently begun training, with many players still involved in other codes. The opposition brought a very strong side, though were still missing some notable names who will undoubtedly further strengthen this impressive Premier 1 team.
Standout performances came from Oisin O’Donoghue, Kyle Byrne, Evan McMickan and Dan Doheny, all of whom made huge contributions with their work rate, physicality and commitment throughout. It was great to see the impact brought by those players who have joined the U20’s squad this season. These new players continue to settle in well and are already making a valuable contribution to the team.
Furthermore, it was great to see some of our seasoned players back from injury or extended periods out of the game. With plenty of works-ons coming from today’s game, there is no doubt that the coming weeks will bring improvements across this talented panel of players. A good collective effort from the entire squad.
Next weekend brings about the first round of the JP Fanagan League with an away visit to Seapoint on Sunday.
