WOMENS TEAM’S FIRST MATCH
Buccaneers revived Womens team travelled to Loughrea to play the newly amalgamated South-East Warriors on Sunday. The scoreboard did not go their way but along with Sean, Tina and Sarah they did the club very proud in the first round of the Bank of Ireland Invitational Cup. With 5 beginner players to the sport, all players put their bodies on the line and supported each other well. They worked at an enormous rate, turned over some lovely ball and finished together followed by recovery and cool down in the nearby Loughrea Lake and subsequent rehydration and sustenance in The Bounty. That’s the spirit, girls!
They have a foundation to work from and cannot wait to get back onto the training pitch. They are building our new club culture, are the way forward and are worth the time in actively supporting, We are creating a new future of women’s rugby in our club. Huge thank you to the two Diarmuids and Tom who travelled to support them. Next game is on September 22nd at home against Ballinrobe, kick-off 1pm — would be great to see you on the sideline!
