YOUTHS RUGBY

Buccaneers U-14 ‘black’ and ‘yellow’ teams played the league leaders in both their respective divisions at the weekend. The black team drew 0-0 away to their Creggs counterparts on Saturday in a game they could have easily lost but for some excellent defence by the Buccs who themselves opted to run a penalty from right in front of the Creggs posts! However, they got out of jail with a missed try scoring opportunity which the home team squandered near the full-time whistle. A scoreless underage match being a rarity in rugby!

Buccs yellow travelled to Loughrea on Sunday scoring three tries in the first half against an injury ravaged home team. Buccs should have put this game away in the second half but allowed Loughrea to get back in the game with two converted tries before closing the deal with a late try to win 22-14.
