On Sunday Buccs entertained an NUIG team that had given them a big beating this time last year. This Buccs squad has improved considerably during the season and are fighting to qualify for the Division 2 semi-final. Buccs endured a torrid 10 minutes at the start of the game but survived with some great defence and eventually broke away to score a couple of tries before NUIG replied with one of their own. Buccs scored again and after the half time break got the clinching try which signalled the end of the opposition’s resistance. Best on the day were Matthew Fallon, Dylan Lally and Fionn ‘spuds’ Lyons in the forwards and Brian Mulvihill,  Sonny Drummond and Eoghan Killeen in the backs. This side need a win next week against Loughrea to clinch a  semi-final spot.
